Ethernet Topology
In a ring topology, each device has exactly two neighbors for purposes of communication. All messages traveling through a ring in the same direction (either to the right or left). A fault in any wiring or circuit device breaks to knock down the entire network. A topology in ring unlike a network star provides only one path between two nodes, in ring networks can be interrupted by the failure of a single link. An error of node or the cable could break isolate every node connected to the ring.
FDDI networks overcome this vulnerability by sending data on a timer on the ring: in the case of a data breakpoint is wrapped back into the ring, it is a complementary measure until it reaches the end of the cable, maintenance routed to each node along the network known as C – Ring. Ring network topology is very similar to the bus network since it is based as a complex work unit in which the whole system are subject to the same errors and become depedientes from each other. Advantages: * is a very orderly network where every device has access to the signal and the same opportunity to transmit. * It is better acting than a bus network topology since it is not so heavy. You can create a much larger network using Token Ring. ** Not required network server to manage connectivity between computers disadvantages: * If a workstation is malfunctioning or the port in the MAU can create problems for the entire network. * Some additions and changes of devices can affect the network. * MAU and network adapter cards are much more expensive than Ethernet cards. * Much slower than an Ethernet network under normal activity.
